Rangefinder Gear
Welcome to my website.
I've been using rangefinder cameras for a number of years and continue to enjoy them to this day. In most cases the rangefinder cameras are lighter than their SLR counterparts and most people find shooting with them very enjoyable.
There's been a steady movement into digital rangefinders although new film cameras are still available. If digital is your main interest you're choices include the Leica M9 and M8 or using a Micro 4/3 camera with a Novoflex Adapter.
If you still enjoy shooting film, new cameras include the Zeiss Ikon Rangefinder and the Voitglander Bessa. For those looking for the simplest of cameras there is the LOMO Kompakt LCA or the plastic Holga.
Currently I sell the Zeiss Ikon system, Voigtlander, the LOMO and the Holga. I also sell the Novoflex Adapter to make Leica/Zeiss M mount lenses fit on a Micro 4/3 camera such as the Panasonic LF1 or G1, and the Olympus Penn.
If you need a case for your rangefinder I sell the Billingham Canvas bags. I think they're the nicest on the market. They're listed towards the bottom of this page.
You can reach me by email at skeoch@sympatico.ca
I shoot photos most days so you might find my blog interesting at http://thepicturedesk.blogspot.com/
There is Free Shipping on Zeiss lens and cameras in Canada.
All Prices are in Canadian Dollars.
Using Leica M mount lenses on your Micro 4/3 camera. If you use a micro 4/3 camera such as the Panasonic GF1 you can fit Leica M/Zeiss M lenses on your body using the Novoflex Adapter. $281.00. This is a great way to gain flexibility with the modern digital camera and the top optics you're already enjoying.

The Zeiss Rangefinder Camera and Lenses Leica makes some great lenses for their M series of cameras.... but so does Zeiss, and they're a less money. These lenses work great on any of the M-mount systems such as the Zeiss Ikon, Voigtlander Bessa, and Leica's. Probally half the people purchasing these lenses are using them on the M8/M9. The build quality is great and optically they are stellar. The 25mm F2.8 is the sharpest lens ever tested for 35mm photography and is one of the most popular from Zeiss.

Lomography LC-A+ camera kit $315 In stock The LOMO has a cult following and this is the top camera in this group. This is a small simple snapshot camera. The main LOMO group on Flickr.com has 23,000 members. Made of metal with automoatic exposure and built in lightmeter, it shoots 35mm film. The lens is the 32mm F2.8 Minitar 1.
The Lomo LC-A is a special little camera. It's not for everyone. It has a unique combination of features and handling that leads the photographer into taking unique photos. The Lomo credo is to be quick - see it and shoot it. The Lomo LC-A inspires spontaneous photography.
This camera is subtle. It is small and light so it comfortably slips into a pocket. The shutter is also quiet. The way it fits into your hand gives you the freedom to shoot from positions that most other cameras will not. Just pull the camera out, flick the shutter open and shoot. Many Lomo shooters don't even bother to look through the finder. "Use the force young Boris!" The Lomo's best 2 features are its good lens and awesome low light capabilities. The wide angle lens lets you shoot from the hip (or where ever). No problem taking pictures in completely dark (with a steady hand).

Holgawood Camera $59 If you're talking about a cult following in photography the Holga is in a class of it's own. This plastic camera has a plastic lens and takes photos that are.... well not quite sharp. Yet people love the look. I've seen it used by wedding photographers because nothing else has the same look. I've even seen it in Time Magazine. It shoots 120 film. The Holga group on Flickr.com has 15,000 members and some very interesting photos.
"Pretty in Pink"

"Commando"

"Now Showing"

"Yellow Brick Road"

Holga 120 Pinhole Camera $55 This is a great camera for super wide angle pinhole photography. On a sunny day with ISO 400 film your exposure takes about 4 second. It gives you a real wide angle on the 120 film.
