Darkroom & Papers

It's tough to find time to work in the darkroom, but printing is one of my favorite things to do. My darkroom has three enlargers, an 8x10 Bessler, a Saunders 4x5 and a Leica V35 for 35mm work. I tend to use Ilford ID-11 for my film and use Bromophen for my printing. In most cases I print on Kentmere Graded Bromide paper.

I try to keep a selection of paper and darkroom supplies in stock.

ID-11 5L Powder $11.85
I've been using ID-11 for everything the past few years.
ID-11 is a fine grain film developer for all general film processing requirements where fine grain negatives are required without loss of emulsion speed. It is recognised internationally as a standard in many fields of scientific and technical photography. ID-11 produces excellent results with all films and is ideal where a wide range of films and film speeds have been used. Ensures the best balance of fine grain, sharpness and tonal rendition producing negatives which allow a high degree of enlargement.

Perceptol 1L Powder $7.95
PERCEPTOL is an extra fine grain film developer producing excellent image quality. Designed for use when very fine grain negatives are required but a decrease in film speed is not important. It exploits the superb grain structure of ILFORD medium and slow speed films, DELTA 100 PROFESSIONAL, FP4 Plus and PAN F Plus, and produces significantly finer grain in ILFORD fast films, DELTA 400 PROFESSIONAL, HP5 Plus and DELTA 3200 PROFESSIONAL, compared with a standard fine grain developer.

Ilfotec DD-X 1L Liquid $19.19
DD-X is an excellent fine grain developer which gives full film speed. Correctly exposed negatives have a full range of tones, with depth in the shadows, a smooth transition through the mid-tones and bright detailed highlights. It is designed to complement the features of all Ilford films, especially the Delta Progessional films.

Bromophen Dev. 5L Powder $16.20
I print with this developer with both RC and fibre base papers.
BROMOPHEN is a phenidone/hydroquinone developer supplied in powder form. Suitable for dish/tray developing all RC and FB black and white photographic papers, it is made into a stock solution that is diluted 1+3 for use. BROMOPHEN gives a slightly warm image tone with most papers and is particularly recommended for dish/tray developing MULTIGRADE Warmtone RC and FB papers to get the warmest image tone.

Harman Selenium Toner 1L $20.22
HARMAN SELENIUM TONER is a liquid concentrate toner, designed for the dish/tray toning of all black and white photographic papers both resin coated (RC) and traditional fibre based (FB). This toner provides a simple and effective approach for the user wishing to produce Selenium toned prints. It should be used at ambient room temperatures, nominally 20°C/68°F. HARMAN SELENIUM TONER delivers an archival, visibly warmer print to the user, with the additional benefit of a toner that is convenient, versatile and with a long working dish life.

Harman Warmtone Dev. 1L $20.50

HARMAN WARMTONE and HARMAN COOLTONE DEVELOPERS are liquid concentrates suitable for the dish/tray developing of all RC and FB black and white photographic papers. Used at a dilution of 1+9 they are clean working and have excellent keeping properties. We do not recommend its use for high temperature or machine processing applications. Not suitable for developing films.

Ilfotol Wetting Agent 1L $18.30
ILFORD ILFOTOL is a non-ionic wetting agent used as a final rinse before drying films. It can be used in all manual and machine processes to aid rapid even drying and so greatly reduce the risk of drying marks being formed. ILFOTOL can also be used as a final rinse before drying fibre based prints, again it promotes rapid, even drying. Additionally it can be used to clean glass and plastic lenses and filters and as an antistatic treatment.

Ilfostop 500ml $7.93
ILFORD ILFOSTOP is a low odour citric acid stop bath. After development we recommend that films and papers are rinsed in an acid stop bath to stop development immediately and neutralise the developer to help maintain the activity of the fixer bath. It is specifically recommended for dish/tray processing of paper or deep tank processing of film. ILFOSTOP helps to maintain the activity and prolong the life of the fixer solution by reducing carry over of excess developer (alkaline) into the fixer bath (acidic).

Ilford Microphen 1L Powder $8.11
Fine Grain, speed increasing developer in powder form for normal and push processing of Ilford and other fine black and white films.
